ABOUT THE DAYS
This focused two days workshop provides clinicians with both the theoretical foundation and practical skills required for effective wound debridement. Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of debridement principles and take part in a hands-on skills session on Conservative Sharp Wound Debridement (CSWD) The program includes interactive learning through quizzes, case studies, group activities, and multiple opportunities for discussion and Q&A.

RNs, NPs, ENs, podiatrists and doctors currently working in the arena of wound care and keen to learn more!
WHAT YOUʼLL LEARN?
Day 1: 8:30am - 4:30pm
• Update and revise the pathophysiology of wound healing, improved understanding of wound bed preparation and translating this to everyday practice.
• Understand wound management assessment and principles of standard care, using the tools effectively.
• Case histories of some typical wounds and the patient perspective.
• Identify red flags in the client presenting with a wound, when and where to refer.
• Collaborative wound management, how can we make it better?
• Understand wound hygiene and different methods of debridement.
• Learn how to access wound type specific pathways for venous and arterial leg ulcers.
• Oedema – Understanding it’s impact and management for improved healing.
• Ann Fowler - Wound care in crisis.
Day 2: 8:30am - 4:30pm
• How to assess and identify typical and atypical wounds – understanding the underlying pathophysiology.
• Wound Care for GPs, and Primary Health Care – what’s our place? (Practical aspects of Assessment, Investigations and Diagnosis) for typical and atypical wounds.
• Inflammation and its role in the wound healing process...inflammation V’s infection.
• Identify red flags to ensure early appropriate treatment and appropriate referral pathways for GPs and Primary Care.
• Case histories of some typical and atypical wounds and the patient perspective.
• Dr Dan Martin - Diagnosis, treatments and updates on malignant wounds – a holistic approach.
• Dr Tony Dill – Histology: Improved understanding of pathology, specific to our more ‘atypical’ wounds. Diagnostics, communication and reporting.
